Making History with a Mic: My First Pro Sports PA Gig

Whew… this game was one for the books!

I had the absolute honor of being the PA announcer for the College Park Skyhawks. I still can't believe it!

When I got the call, I immediately did a little digging to see how many women have been in this role at the pro level. Let’s just say… the numbers were WILDLY disappointing. We're talking maybe two hands’ worth of women in all of pro sports history. That realization hit hard, but it also made this opportunity feel that much more meaningful.

So when I walked into Gateway Center Arena, mic in hand, I knew this wasn’t just another gig. It was a chance to show up, show out, and represent. It was a chance to be part of the change.

The game itself? Very fun and exciting, I had an absolute BLAST bringing the intensity and hype to every play, timeout, and buzzer-beater moment. The energy in that arena was electric, and I’ll carry that with me forever.

To the Skyhawks organization: THANK YOU. Thank you for trusting me with this role and for pushing boundaries by welcoming more women into this space. It’s something I’ll never take lightly.

History was made, and I’m beyond grateful to have been part of it.

So… should we run it back?
